" Fritz"

Cindy came to Scamper’s Choice horse feed due to a new horse she acquired, and like the rest of us...her horses are her life.  In 2004 Cindy purchased a weanling  CM Fritz O Lena “Fritz”.  It wasn’t long before Fritz started having problems and Cindy started losing sleep.  One day she found Fritz lying in his stall just groaning.  He wouldn’t move.  He was bloated...which is a condition that became a constant with him.

Along with the bloating came the other problems...passing tremendous amounts of gas which would relieve the pressure for a moment, and then chronic diarrhea.  Cindy did what any responsible horse owner would do...she wormed Fritz regularly with a schedule provided by her veterinarian.  She spent hundreds of dollars on vet calls, tried 7-8 different kinds of feed, switched hay, tried yogurt, pro-biotic, dry pro-biotic, different herbs for digestion, Safe Guard power dose, Absorbine Pro CMC, Dionne Kaolin...the horses manure never got any firmer than a cow pie.  She bathed him regularly and used baby ointment to keep the horse’s hide from blistering.

On Thanksgiving 2005 Cindy found his tail completely frozen from the diarrhea.  The  horse was taken to a heated indoor arena and cleaned daily.  His tail was wrapped in a towel and vet wrap.  The next 2 weeks Cindy went to the heated arena 5-6 times a day.  Each morning she went to the barn, wondering if Fritz would still be alive.  One day she was cleaning the stall and found what she thought was snake skin...she says before the rational side of her kicked in and she realized snakes hibernate that time of year.  She promptly called 2 different vets and both told her the horse had probably shed his stomach lining.

Cindy attended a Charmayne James clinic where the importance of your feeding program was a topic, with the benefits of Scamper’s Choice covered.  In December 2005 Cindy went to www.gorebros.com and read about Scamper’s Choice and ordered a pallet for her horse.  According to Cindy “the results were overwhelming”.  In 4 days Fritz’s manure was starting to look like a horse’s.  By the end of two weeks, his bloated belly was gone and Cindy said “he looks like a tucked up race horse”.  He began playing with the other 2 year olds...he was bucking, running, holding his tail over his back and hopping around.  Cindy’s farrier was out on the place after Fritz had been on the grain for about five weeks and was in shock.  He claims that Fritz does not even look like the same horse.  Even Cindy’s husband was amazed and wanted to know what she did...he could not believe that just a change in feed could make that huge a change in a horse they thought was near death.  Cindy says it did.
